"DARKNESS, DARKNESS...."

Date: June, 1980

Writer: Steven Grant
Pencils: Mike Zeck
Inker: Mike Esposito

Feature Characters: The Shroud, Spider-Man, Dansen Macabre.

Favorite Quote: "..and I'm stuck with an enchanted Priestess of Shiva on my hands! The Shroud was right, I can't go to the police with that!" -Spider-Man

The Story: This Story's a little complex. It's the last part of a multi issue story where Spider-Man is investigating a organized crime ring in Los Angeles. His sources lead him to believe a mysterious character know as The Shroud is the leader of a group of super-powered criminals. The Shroud is actually a good guy trying to infiltrate the LA crime scene. Throw in a real villain in Dansen Macabre, who wants to learn more about the Shroud, and you've got a story. Spider-Man pays Dansen Macabre a visit in hopes of finding a criminal link between the two. Dansen hypnotizes Spider-Man to bring her the Shroud, which he does. Dansen then is about to weave her dance of Death on both Shroud and Spider-Man when Shroud stops her...you see The Shroud is blind, so Dansen could dance her little heart out and it wouldn't have any effect of him. Of course the Shroud skips out on Spidey leaving him with one incredible, and confusing, story. .

The Grade: C+, Confusing and low on action.
